This page explains what data All Chemistry collects and what happens to it. It is written in ordinary language: if anything is unclear, ask through the contact form and we will fix the wording.
The data controller is Andy Wits. Address for enquiries: [email protected].
What we collect ourselves
Web server logs. Every request to allchemistry.info is recorded with the IP address, the time, the address requested, the response code, the browser type and the page you arrived from. Every web server does this. The records are used to diagnose faults and to guard against abuse, and are kept for no longer than 90 days.
The contact form. If you write to us we receive your message and whatever contact details you supply. We use them only to reply.
Display preferences. Your choice of light or dark theme, and of language, is kept in your browser's local storage. It is not on our server, it is not a cookie, and it is not sent anywhere.
We do not ask you to register, we do not create accounts for visitors, and we do not collect personal data for mailings.
Advertising
There is no advertising on this site at present. This section describes how it will work when there is — so that you know in advance rather than after the fact.
The advertising will be Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites.
How to control it:
- turn off Google's ad personalisation in Google Ad Settings;
- opt out of third-party vendor cookies at www.aboutads.info;
- read how Google uses data in Google's advertising policy.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent on your first visit. Whether you see personalised advertising depends on your answer, and you can change that answer at any time.
Analytics
No analytics are in place at present. When there are, they will be Google Analytics, which helps us see which pages are read and where readers come from. It sets cookies and sends data to Google. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or through the same consent prompt.
We do not link analytics data to a visitor's identity and do not attempt to.
Cookies
As things stand the site sets no cookies at all for a visitor: reading the material does not need them. Functional cookies appear only if you sign in to the admin.
When advertising and analytics are switched on, these will be added:
| What is set | What for | By whom | |---|---|---| | Advertising cookies | selecting and counting ads | Google and partners | | Analytics cookies | visit statistics | Google Analytics |
Cookies can be deleted or blocked in your browser settings. The site will keep working: reading the material does not depend on them.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, the UK or another country with comparable law, you may ask what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to its processing, and complain to a supervisory authority.
The simplest route is the contact form. We reply within 30 days.
Children
The site is meant for school and university students and for anyone else interested in science, but we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe such data has reached us, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date below will change with it. Substantial changes will be noted on the front page.
